Ship abilities in Space Tactics

Hello Commanders!

Coming to you with information about ship abilities in Space Tactics.

Abilities is what makes gameplay interesting and diverse. It's always great to turn the tides of battle with perfectly timed torpedo volley. Or to use shield so your cruiser can survive for one more turn and put a final blow on that battleship.

So, abilities.

General rules

Any ship has at least one ability, up to three for the most versatile vessels. A ship can use one of the available abilities per turn. Activation of any ability sets 1-turn cooldown for any abilities for this ship. Therefore a ship can use any ability every second turn. Some abilities don't allow a ship to fire this turn.

180-degree turn

Ship makes a 180-degree turn (left-side or right-side selection is random). Can use weapons this turn.

360-degree turn

Ship makes a 360-degree turn (left-side or right-side selection is random). Can use weapons this turn.

Afterburner

Ship speed increases twice for one turn. Ship can use weapons  this turn.

Gas trail

Ship spawns a gas trail at its movement trajectory. Gas lasts for several turns and damages every ship that touches it. Ship can use weapons this turn.

Mines

Ship spawns a line of mines at its movement trajectory. Mine explodes when there is an enemy ship in its radius. Ship cannot use weapons this turn.

Missile

Ship fires a fast and maneuverable missile with moderate damage. Player can control a missile as he or she controls a ship. Ship cannot use weapons this turn.

Torpedo

Ship fires a slow and low mobility torpedo with extreme damage. Player can control a torpedo as he or she controls a ship. Ship cannot use weapons this turn.

Shield

Ship becomes completely invulnerable for one turn but cannot use weapons while shield is active.

Hope this was an interesting reading for you Commanders.

Stay tuned for more updates!

Cheers,
Alexey

Setting and factions

Hello guys,

Today I'd love to tell you about setting and factions in Space Tactics. This game is the first in series of upcoming games set in the same universe we're developing now. This universe is heavily inspired by Honorverse.

Setting

Almost two southand years ago, first colonial ship set sail from the Old Earth. Since then, thousands of planets have been colonized.
These colonies were founded by different types of societies: military dictatorships, democracies, various monarchies, fanatical theocracies and even corporate structures.
The colonies didn’t interact for ages, but gradual expansion of territory reached gigantic proportions and the governments started to communicate.
Cultural exchange, science, technology and interstellar trade flourished.
Nevertheless, human nature never changes - in close proximity conflict is unavoidable.
Human civilization gone through numerous of armed conflicts, from small borderland clashes to fierce atrocities of genocide when whole nations were eradicated.
The story of Space Tactics is about one of these encounters, insignificant to measures of whole humanity and crucial for its participants.

The sides of the conflict

Corporation

“Devil’s Dozen” corporation is an interstellar holding - a government with corporate structure. It consists of 7 planets in 5 star systems with total population of 20 billion people.
Mighty economics and high life standards are the top priority of the Corporation.
It is achieved by highly developed trade, professional political management and protected by top tech military fleet.

Despite high standard of living and GDP per capita, Corporation's top prio is its profits. This leads to different harsh situations like assimilation of independent planets by force or exploitation of human labour in terrible conditions.

Corporate Fleet is relatively small, but highly mobile and uses top notch military tech. Its officers are known for their skills and proficiency. It's an honorable profession in point of vief of population of Corporation planets.

Theocracy

Delanel theocracy was founded by radical religious fanatics.
Their primary goal is to spread and impose their beliefs.
This theocracy is known for its effective economy due to diligence and selfless patriotism and last, but not the least impetuous warmongering politics.
Theocrats have no mercy to infidels and fervently believe that bringing the light of their faith to every single corner of the Galaxy is their destiny.

Space Tactics proposes to play as a Corporation officer or pilot and take part in the conflict started by Theocracy. In the beginning it was just a border incident, but then the conflict quickly developed into a full-scale interstellar war.

You will face fierce battles, grow in ranks up to Grand Admiral, take command on more and more powerful and significant fleets, conduct increasingly difficult fleet operations and eventually end the war.

Welcome to Space Tactics dev blog!

Hello guys :)

We're happy to welcome you to the development blog of Space Tactics!

Space Tactics is a hardcore turn-based strategy game about battles of spacefleets. You are a pilot or an officer and take command of fleets of different sizes - up to dozens of ships.

Visual style of the game aims that you feel as you issue orders on the tactical holographic map on board of your flagship.

The game features two campaigns with very different gameplay - one focusing on large scale fleet battles while another puts you in a role of a pilot taking part in fierce dogfights. Also there are skirmish battles for infinite replayability.

Space Tactics is made with Unity and coming to iOS, Android and - shortly after mobile releases - to Steam.

Despite it's a mobile game (at firrst), it won't feature in-app purchases, ads or social features like 'invite friends to progress further'. Our principle is 'Pay once. Play forever'. We strive to deliver interesting, challenging games where only your skill matters. Our team will release games with actual gameplay (where you rock not because you open the game fifty times a day and collect vegetables but because you are smart and skillful) on mobile platforms because we think there is not enough such games there.

Space Tactics is just the first - and simplest - in the series of planned games.

Currently development is in late beta stage, mobile release is planned for late March. We just need to put everything together and polish a lot. Steam release will follow asap (probably we'll try to greenlit ST).

More info about the game can be found on our social channels - I update them quite often:

If you like the game, please support us with follow and like :) Also stay tuned for updates in this blog!

Let me share some screenshots to tease you:
